WEBVTT 00:02.347 --> 00:04.764 (soft music) 00:12.559 --> 00:15.142 (bright music) 00:20.115 --> 00:22.615 (tense music) 00:42.118 --> 00:44.701 (upbeat music) 00:48.990 --> 00:50.970 The next award goes to Pete Ohlin, 00:50.970 --> 00:53.910 who's been selected to be the 2024 recipient 00:53.910 --> 00:57.690 of IDA's But You LOOK Good Inspiration Award. 00:57.690 --> 01:00.540 Pete's been chosen based upon his vulnerability 01:00.540 --> 01:04.470 and willingness to publicly share his inspiring story 01:04.470 --> 01:07.080 of living with the trauma and anxiety 01:07.080 --> 01:10.110 from the childhood loss of his sister to meningitis, 01:10.110 --> 01:14.040 which almost killed him in college as well. 01:14.040 --> 01:17.010 Pete has used his passion and love for people, 01:17.010 --> 01:20.160 which helped him create incredible music 01:20.160 --> 01:21.960 that brings healing and peace 01:21.960 --> 01:24.930 for people living with PTSD, depression, 01:24.930 --> 01:28.380 ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and more. 01:28.380 --> 01:29.910 Let's roll Pete's video. 01:29.910 --> 01:31.350 Hi, my name is Pete Ohlin, 01:31.350 --> 01:35.070 and I want to say thank you to Invisible Disabilities, 01:35.070 --> 01:37.500 Wayne and Jess for this award. 01:37.500 --> 01:40.230 And I'm getting this award for the piano music 01:40.230 --> 01:43.740 that I've created that has helped people with all sorts 01:43.740 --> 01:47.910 of different things from anxiety to depression. 01:47.910 --> 01:52.230 And originally I started playing piano for my own peace. 01:52.230 --> 01:54.930 Then quickly it became, 01:54.930 --> 01:57.030 for other people in 2 Corinthians, 01:57.030 --> 01:59.010 it says that God comforts us 01:59.010 --> 02:01.800 so that we can comfort those who are in trouble. 02:01.800 --> 02:03.270 He comforts us in our trouble, 02:03.270 --> 02:05.283 so then we can help those in trouble. 02:06.390 --> 02:10.050 I started playing piano in college for my own peace. 02:10.050 --> 02:12.540 And what I would do, I was at Colorado State University 02:12.540 --> 02:15.480 and I would walk to the piano rooms 02:15.480 --> 02:18.570 in the dead of night for my own peace, 02:18.570 --> 02:23.190 and I would play, and the piano rooms are really small, 02:23.190 --> 02:28.190 and so the strings of the pianos would reverberate off 02:28.560 --> 02:31.530 the walls and it really calmed me. 02:31.530 --> 02:32.550 And that's where I started. 02:32.550 --> 02:35.250 And then years later, I met, 02:35.250 --> 02:37.650 I had a friend who had struggled with PTSD. 02:37.650 --> 02:41.010 He was a Navy Seal, and he came to my house 02:41.010 --> 02:42.417 and didn't know that I played all that much. 02:42.417 --> 02:45.630 And I started playing and he felt immediately at peace. 02:45.630 --> 02:47.703 And so six months after that, 02:48.942 --> 02:50.880 he had a friend who was a lead singer 02:50.880 --> 02:54.330 of Little Texas back many years ago, 02:54.330 --> 02:58.470 and he recorded my first album called "Majestic Rain." 02:58.470 --> 02:59.970 And we both agreed it was neat. 02:59.970 --> 03:04.170 We both agreed that a title track in the name 03:04.170 --> 03:05.850 of the album be called "Majestic Rain" is, 03:05.850 --> 03:09.750 which is God's tears for his sons and daughters. 03:09.750 --> 03:12.060 And that's how I got started in the recording. 03:12.060 --> 03:14.430 And I've recorded a lot ever since. 03:14.430 --> 03:17.400 And then years after that album was out, 03:17.400 --> 03:20.130 I met another guy. 03:20.130 --> 03:22.410 He was an evangelist 03:22.410 --> 03:25.860 and a bestselling author in the Netherlands. 03:25.860 --> 03:29.250 And he came to a men's retreat that I was playing for, 03:29.250 --> 03:31.170 and his wife had just passed 03:31.170 --> 03:35.550 and he decided that he was going to just sit there 03:35.550 --> 03:40.380 and listen and the depression just lifted off of him 03:40.380 --> 03:42.180 after months and months. 03:42.180 --> 03:45.150 And so he and I ended up going to the Netherlands 03:45.150 --> 03:48.840 and doing healing services all over the Netherlands. 03:48.840 --> 03:52.650 And that was another neat experience that I've had. 03:52.650 --> 03:56.250 But I wanna thank once again Wayne and Jess 03:56.250 --> 03:59.040 and Invisible Disabilities for what they're doing. 03:59.040 --> 04:01.740 They're doing practical things for people with all sorts 04:01.740 --> 04:05.103 of invisible disabilities in the state of Colorado. 04:06.090 --> 04:08.160 You can get the Invisible Disabilities logo 04:08.160 --> 04:09.900 on your driver's license and they're working 04:09.900 --> 04:13.047 on many other really practical ways of helping people. 04:13.047 --> 04:14.550 And I love that. 04:14.550 --> 04:15.690 And in my own family, 04:15.690 --> 04:19.470 we've had autoimmune disorders, we've had anxiety, 04:19.470 --> 04:21.360 depression, we had a heart transplant 04:21.360 --> 04:26.360 in my son-in-law this year, severe asthma, COPD. 04:27.000 --> 04:29.220 There's a lot of people that are struggling 04:29.220 --> 04:30.940 with things out there, so I thank 04:31.800 --> 04:33.630 Invisible Disabilities for what they're doing. 04:33.630 --> 04:34.463 Thank you. 04:40.114 --> 04:42.697 (upbeat music)
